What the ****? I just checked the video for Alejandro (with the computer on mute) and the dancers are men!"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi
"I have nothing against Wilson, but he's nowhere near the same calibre of QB as Flutie. Flutie threw for 5k+ yards in the CFL." -Ben Kenobi

I don't think Madonna holds a candle to Lady Gaga, even though Madonna has her moments. Among other things, Gaga isn't afraid to look weird. Plus, she's a much better dancer and singer than Madonna. And besides, Gaga is pure dance music. Not sure who does all of her choreography, but it's pretty outstanding.
She may be sacrilegious and an apostate, but I like her music. At least what has been released so far...I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Yes, finally a Lady gaga thread. we didn't have one for ages, I think.
Lady Gaga is the perfect post-indie artist - Truly multimedia with new media included, radically efficient management of public persona, excellent sourcing, trend curve fitting of the highest level, both utilizing the residual strength of record labels and fully in control.
She is a smart girl.

yes indeed lady gaga has everything except the good music."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.
"The most obvious predicition about the future is that it will be mostly like the past" - Alain de Botton

I can understand preferring Gaga, but this goes too far. Madonna is clearly in the discussion and has arguments in her favor; Gaga has yet to release a song as timeless as "Borderline", for example.
And besides, Gaga is pure dance music.
This could also be viewed as a weakness. Gaga's music is great dance music, but dance music tends to be ephemeral. Will we still be talking about Gaga in two years?
