  • Non-Native English Speakers: Which English is more important?

For all non-native English speakers, which type of English did you learn and/or which type of English do you think has more importance/relevance/use in the world? American or British English?

    Thanks

You clearly could've benefited from some better English instruction.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out British terms if you learned American English and vice versa, so asking "what kind of English is more important" is a bit like asking "what kind of English accent is more important." The only problem I've ever encountered is that it was a pain in the ass to search for graph-coloring/graph-colouring papers (the ACM has a lousy search engine).

American English is taught outside of the US.

I'm pretty sure American English is the variant taught in Japan. Is that right?
