Then submit it to a series of state of the art DNA tests; and some of them will be in for a shock when they discover just how English they really are.

I don't think their percentage breakdown really goes back that far. A lot of them had several times more Southeast European, Middle Eastern, and/or South Asian than what would be typical for the English population as a whole. One guy had quite a bit of sub-saharan African, as well, and the genetics expert who looked at his profile estimated there was African admixture in his family on his father's side within the past five generations.

I for one have always been aware that I'm descended from a diverse mix of nationalities - but this is certainly not unusual for a Londoner. Maybe one day I'll get round to watching that vid.

The high percentages of russian/balkan genes in these people suggests that it was either a fairly recent DNA insertion across the UK or that there has been intermarriage amongst the same genetic population (which is likely given the UK's class system I think) after a DNA influx in the more distant past (or a combination of these two possibilities). Either way, I cant think of why at least 4 of these 8 people (it may have been 5 or 6) should have such a genetic background and clearly, they had no idea of the source. Hell, Baroness Thatcher's daughter had 10% middle eastern genes! The only one who had no 'foreign' genes was Lord Tebbit.
