5-year-old shoots and kills 4-year-old in Texas
    The Associated Press

Authorities say a 4-year-old boy is dead after being shot in the stomach by a 5-year-old sibling who was playing with a bolt-action rifle in the family's Texas home.
    Telferner, Texas

Victoria County authorities say the children's parents were at the home in Telferner, South Texas, when the shooting happened late Wednesday.

    Authorities are investigating Friday.

Chief Deputy Terry Simons tells the Victoria Advocate that investigators are trying to determine why the children were left unsupervised. The parents drove their wounded son to a nearby grocery to meet with paramedics, who then rushed the boy to a hospital.

Authorities have not released the name and gender of the other sibling.

Well, I can't see the problem with that - guns are safe since they have no intention to kill. You need people like toddlers with evil minds for that to happen.

I was busy, but I saw this story and I was going to bump my thread the other week. Something about "Guess which state". It was another child shooting another child in Texas.

I'm shocked. With the cliche retort from gun fanatics, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people," I would not have thought it would be dangerous for a toddler to have a loaded gun.

          Cause guns don't kill people.

I'm not pro-guns by any stretch of the imagination, but there is logic to 'guns don't kill people, people kill people' - like Eddie Izzard says, "the gun helped".

The moron who left a loaded gun, with the safety off where anyone could get hold of it is responsible for this. Had it been unloaded, safety on, or better still under lock and key, the no problem.

Of course! I never knew that an unloaded gun cannot shoot.

              Thanks for the information.

That's totally incorrect. At any rate, the "saying" is that guns don't kill people, people kill people. The OP is just another example. Age is not a part of it. The parent is the one that's responsible. Or rather, irresponsible.

Frankly I don't see the problem: in Texas, all toddlers should have guns!
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Just saying a either a 5 or 4 year old isn't a toddler. Kid should have known better. Needs a spanking.

Exactly, its the parents. They should have been pre-emptively beating the kids.
