Because there's only 8-10 feet between the houses, so those windows tend to be looking out at someone else's siding and not much else. They maximize the windows at the front and the back instead. I could've put more windows in at the sides, but it just didn't make sense because I'd rather not be looking directly into someone's house, or looking at their siding anyway.

The total price came to something like $530K with tax. Judging by what the other homes are going for in the area with similar upgrades and lots, it's probably valued at something like $590-600 currently.

We put 20% down so the mortgage is about $420.

    • In the cheaper neighbourhoods nearby, you're legally not allowed any windows on the side of your house (or vented soffits) due to fire code. Those houses are 4 feet apart...they call it "zero lot line".

          • Looking good.

I'd have expected more holes in the wall for the computer room. Can we just not see them?

            • Why would we need more holes? It's got cat6 run up there as well as fibre and 6 outlets.

They are missing one hole for now for the fibre, but they should correct that by early next week.

There should be 4. 1 isn't there yet, the other is by the closet which you can't see in the pic.

                    And 50k posts...

Hmm, first thing I've really disagreed with. I can't stand popcorn ceilings. But YMMV, and everything else looks good.

                              Knockdown:

It's hard to tell in the photos of the house. They're not nearly as distracting as popcorn ceilings.

We considered just flat ceilings, but it just felt too...bland, especially in rooms like the bonus room which are wide open with tons of ceiling.
