What if the Carthaginian oligarchy supported Hannibal's Italian campaign and he had been able to take Rome? Carthage likely would not have annexed Italy but probably would've been able to make Rome a client state. How would the development of Western civilization be different with Carthaginian domination of the Western Mediterranean?
I imagine the Gauls would've been left alone as Carthage wasn't concerned with territorial conquest. In the East, the Alexandrian successor states would not have been attacked by Rome.
So what happens?
