It's really useful as news aggregator. I don't have to sift through all those sites for a good article. Most of the time someone I know (sometimes remotely) has digged up something interesting, and then I go on from there.

Yeah status updates are like twitter. Unless you have some fascinating life, do you really have stuff to put on there or have people who are really interested?
