I recall the bugzilla bug about this. There was great controversy. But it was decided to change the order as the vast majority of users use "open in new tab", so it should be first.

Yes, I never use "open in new window", and I had thoroughly trained myself to skip over it

I use CTRL-Click and the context menu... but not middle button because my mouse sucks... different situations call for different courses of actions. How am I supposed to CTRL-Click when I'm throwing ipads at luddites with my off hand?

Having Chrome and Firefox use the same context menu ordering is good

If you just got FF4, or you have Chrome, check out some of these: https://demos.mozilla.org/en-US/

Some killer demos of what HTML5 can do.

Cool. I figured you were on it for ages by now. I rely on your determination to stay on top of these things. Believe me, it's appreciated.

Assuming there are no Mac-related issues (I'm still on OS 10.4.11), I'll move to FF4 when I finish with the current crop of deadlines. Then I'll curl up with a nice single-malt, get familiar with it and browse for plug-ins.

I think it requires OS 10.5 or higher. About half of my FF 4 experience has been on OS X 10.6, for what it's worth. I've briefly used it on OS X 10.7 without issue also.

Well, crap. 10.5 requirement confirmed. Oh well, I guess that's what happens when you go the Luddite route.

                Wait, you've got Lion already?

We're playing with it at work because it breaks a whole bunch of **** with our app that we need to support. Our app is used in many schools, many of which use Macs. Some of which will run 10.7 for the new school year.

Another cool new FF4 feature: Tab groups. Ctrl-shift-e, or from the menu in the top right. I keep two tab groups (click and drag tabs around in the group editor to move them), one for work stuff, one for personal stuff. When I switch between them, it hides the tabs from the other group. It more cleanly separates my browsing contexts.

Using it now, and I think I'm going back to it from Chrome for the time being. It might take a while to get used to the lack of immediate autocomplete in the URL field, but man, I've missed the actually consistently working navigate-on-paste and type-ahead-find so, so much. It's like coming home
