The last I've heard (and I am by no means sure how accurate this information is):
- estimated over 10,000 dead ?
- still battling the possibility of a reactor meltdown ?
- 4,000,000 people without power ???
- one or more oil refineries damaged or destroyed ?? (likely to push up bowser prices?)
- lots of factories damaged/destroyed (how many?)
- Tokyo stock market down 5% (may go down more?)
- I don't know how many homes were destroyed (a lot, whole towns)
- possibilty of more aftershocks ? -

These are casualty "estimates" from the newspapers here, with the qualifiers "at least" and "so far". It could be much higher.
I recall the estimates from the IIRC 2004 tsunami in the Indian Ocean kept growing daily, and rising fast. Started in the thousands and finished up at an estimate of IIRC over 220,000. This is a total disaster and could get worse, much worse.Comment
