Okay I have to ask... is everyone here into this? Because I never heard of this in my life. Now granted after the Led Zeppelin thing, we established that there's a lot of stuff I don't know and this guy had a New York Times bestseller so he must be fairly established.

But the way so many of yall are talking about it seems a little odd. It can't be this popular. I mean really? Dragons and ****?

I wasn't going to say anything but then with Supr49er and Kuci expressing interest as well, it just seemed to reach a critical mass where I'm like umm this many of yall are into some dragon ****?

**** "Dance with Dragons" sounds so you know... and it sounds like a rip-off of "Dances with Wolves"
"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi
"I have nothing against Wilson, but he's nowhere near the same calibre of QB as Flutie. Flutie threw for 5k+ yards in the CFL." -Ben Kenobi

Dancing with dangerous animals... well, if dragons existed, that is.

It's a modern classic fantasy series. But it's adult, not Harry Potter-esque. It's been very well received.

It's popular enough that HBO is spending a fortune making a series out of it, airing next month.

"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Unfortunately, The Malazan book of the Fallen is superior to Martin's series.

I won't read Dance with Dragons until the next book is ready for release.

But I will watch the show.

              ACK!
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust!

I read part of Malazan book of the Fallen.

It seems like trashy fun compared to Game of Thrones.

I don't know why people compare them.

Malazan book of the Fallen is terrible (as far as literature goes) compared to Game of Thrones which is epic Myth.

                  I will help everyone:

Song of Ice and Fire is to Malazan book of the Fallen as Chronicles of Thomas the Unbeliever is to Sword of Truth.

Not much help since you have it all wrong. The Fallen series is a dark and twisted very intricate series... The Sword of Truth series is just a fun romp. I can actually laugh when reading the Sword of Truth... Reading the fallen, I almost want to put a gun to my head. I've read all the available books in all four series you mentioned, and you aren't even close

Sword of Truth is dark and twisted too.... even if you laugh at it. The writer definitely has something for torture/etc/etc.

Maybe I should have used Cook's Black Company series instead of Sword of Truth? I could actually read that one after my teenage years.

                        Better job:

Song of Ice and Fire is to Malazan book of the Fallen as Chronicles of Thomas the Unbeliever is to Black Company.

The Chronicales of Thomas is the darkest of all of them... A rapist as the hero... Half the time, I'm just wishing he would kill himself and end the series. Sword of Truth is a children's cartoon in comparison.

Yes some of torture scenes were dark, but there was a lot of good humor there also that made you laugh (not crap that you laugh at). This type of humor that was not present in any of the other series mentioned.

And yeah, I agree with ming that i was always rooting for Thomas to just give in to his self torture and kill himself. I didn't get that far into the series before I just decided that I detested it to much to continue.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Albert is funny. Anyways, yes, its a fantasy series.... a book series. You know, like reading .

So do you two now understand that I am not talking about 'darkness' but about the quality of literature?
