Somehow despite the fact that the Mexican government only taxes a fifth of their GDP, their country still sucks. While Scandinavian governments that tax half of the GDP are doing just fine.

There is an old story about Milton Friedman being told by a Swedish economist, "We have no poverty in Sweden," to which Friedman replied, "You know that's interesting, because in America we have no poverty among Swedes either."

There's nothing wrong with current trends. Hispanics usually assimilate during the second or third generation.

I'm not all that concerned about American "culture" here in fact I think the US would be better if it was a truly bilingual country (Spanish/English). The really relevant factor here is that second and third generation Hispanics under-perform the first generation in many important metrics.
