  • I presume WI has a legislature where elected members debate the issues at hand (talk) and then a vote is taken amongst elected officials to pass (or reject) policy. By saying you want to "talk" but not agreeing to do it in the place designed for this talk simply means we will "talk" so long as you agree to our demands.

Interesting assertion, considering that the Republicans could simply ignore the Dems if they were in Wisconsin...

      • They can certainly disagree. See my above post about the proper place for this "talk".

Despite that, regardless of who you choose to blame for the layoffs, the layoffs happen anyway.
Sorry Wezil, if they wanted to talk they could video conference, otherwise they'd just be ignored like gribbler said. And please, remember the first part of what I said before: The layoffs DON'T NEED TO HAPPEN.

So now the only place to talk about politics os on the Senate floor? They are susposed to be banned from disscuission outside of the Capital building?

            • Personally, if I lived in WI I would probably be opposed to the Governor's policies in this area (from what I have read) but I would be forced to support him as the manner of dissent chosen by the opposition is just not acceptable.

Why do you guys even have a legislature if you distrust it so much you will no longer accept its legitimacy?

Maybe the layoffs don't need to happen Don. I will presume there is a 3rd option. The reality is you are presented with two options and you choose the awful one.

                • It's not uncommon in negotiations for a side to threaten a more drastic action in order to get concessions. And people should know that pissing off someone when you're attempting to negotiate can sometimes backfire on you.

Nope, you can talk anywhere but if "talks" are your condition before returning to the jurisdiction then it really is a demand.

                      Anyone?

Perhaps WI should govern by head count at rallies? Popular opinion polls?

You know very well that Governor Walker and the Republicans will not put any of this ****ty legislation up for discussion. When the Democrats return, the Republicans will simply ram their anti-labor legislation through with no discussion.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

                        • Gee, it sound vaguely familiar to how the Dems ran the US house and senate for the last term when they had control.

                          • Yeah, losing elections really sucks. The other guys get to implement their agendas. What a shocking disgrace.

                            • I like how you could hear crickets chirp in here after I asked what the purpose of the legislature is.

                              • Yes. Shocking. But as much as I was pissed at the DEMs for what they did, I'm not impressed with what my party has done so far.
And it's getting more embarrassing calling it my party.
