  • Foreign recipes banned on Iranian state TV

This is so pathetic. I mean really pathetic.

Cooking channels forbidden to show hamburgers, hot-dogs, pizza

    updated 2/6/2011 7:45:48 AM ET

TEHRAN, Iran — A state-owned news website says Iran's broadcasting authority has banned Iranian TV channels from showing cooking programs that present recipes for foreign cuisine.

Jamejamonline reported late Saturday that the deputy head of Iran's state broadcasting company, Ali Darabi, announced the ban during a visit to one of the country's 30 state-run TV channels.

Some cooking programs on Iranian stations present recipes for foreign cuisine, such as Italian and French.

The ban is seen as part of a nationalistic campaign increasingly pushed by Iran's government in recent years.

Pizza, pasta and Western fast foods like hamburgers and hot-dogs are popular in Iran, and Tehran boasts many restaurants that serve Western or Asian food.

I'm sure hamburgers, hotdogs, and pizza will still be very well known even with official censorship.

They just want to make sure they're not served the cocktail 'Molotov'.

Australians have banned small ones in porn. Considering they also offer free breast augmentation for female serivcemen (on the awesome rational that females look better with them) perhaps maybe Iran will find a ally of convienence in the Big Breasted Totalitarian state that is the Commonwealth of Australia in the general war on tittes.

Jamejamonline? Isn't that the name of the president anyway?

It's the sign of a government scared of its people and trying to step up its control. Actually I am amazed that the Iranians haven't got sick of these pigs already.
