Dunno if anyone here cares or even recognizes this name immediately, this is the producer behind movies like "Name of the Rose" "Downfall" or "Baader Meinhof Complex". He died yesterday at the age of only 61.
Sad day for German cinema, esp. since during the last years he's basically the only one amongst the German producers (not counting actors or directors though) who had really international format and was able to get "big" movies going, while others in the business mostly make artsy stuff that looks good in reviews but usually doesn't attract many viewers.
Well, I hope someone can follow into Eichinger's footsteps. RIP.
