      Yes and no.

A LAYABOUT dad bragged yesterday about the prospect of becoming Britain's youngest grandad.

The scrounger, 29, said he was chuffed his 14-year-old daughter was pregnant and crowed: "It's quite mad... I'm about to be a grandad.

"I was 14 when my daughter was born - and now she's having a baby."

The schoolgirl became pregnant by her 15-year-old boyfriend and is expected to give birth in August.

The pair, from South Wales, are pupils at the same comprehensive school and have been dating for several months.

She announced her news to pals on Facebook by updating her status to "looking for a pram with the mr".

This is simply not true. Poor people usually have reproduced recklessly but they also used to die at a far greater rate.

Successful people where very prolific. Or is the fact that many people today carry the Y chromosome of kings, warlords and rulers matter for little? To give another clear example the Askenazi Jews where expanding rapidly in Eastern Europe from the 17th to the 19th century, much faster than the local (on average) poorer and probably (eventually) less intelligent Christian peasants.

But since we are talking about Britain here, A Farewell to Alms by Gregory Clark makes a convincing case that at least in England over the long term had a climate where the rich out-breed the poor.
