This exactly. Cold turkey is dangerous in this case, not only because of the sudden change in your brain activity - which induces your undesirable thoughts. More importantly, it can upset the balance of things in such a way that in the future you might have to take more anti-depressants to get the same results. Another danger is that you simply get stuck in this mood. This means that no amount of anti-depressants will get you back in shape. It doesn't always happen, but there's no point in risking it.

Think of your brain as consisting of three types of hormones. The three of those normally keep each other in check. The balance was probably messed up in your case to begin with. Chemical agents attempt to restore that balance. And you took an element away in an unnatural manner. The body can not adapt quickly enough and does weird things.

Ease off if you can, and go and consult your psychiatrist for the correct medication. Quickly.

I've gone cold turkey on anti-depressants (among others), and agree, it's not something that you should do. (Even though it worked for me, it was just dumb luck.) It's good you have friends to support you and feel comfortable talking about your issues as well.

        Best wishes Fun.

How much does the medication you're missing cost per month?

KH, the total cost for both was $198 a month before I found out about the resources that will provide assistance.

The Lexapro is the more expensive one - so I'm thinking maybe the Lexapro was about $120 or something??

I'm sure my counselor can set me up with where I should go to immediately get something until I get my Lexapro refill.

That is a good way of explaining it, Zoet.

That's a good deal. I did a search on pricing and $120 is pretty close. There are different dosages, 5mg - 20mg. I'm guessing you need elephant dosage.

Once i learned the truth of the universe, I realized that killing yourself is a waste of time, all it does is give you temporary pain for a consistent problem. Besides one thing that always keeps me ticking along is what i call "morbid curiousity" of what will happen "next."
