How would you frame a 67% increase in personal income taxes and a business tax increase of 46%?
Obviously, it depends on the context of the increase. I'd be less concerned of a 100% increase of a 1% tax than a 15% increase of a 40% tax...
Do you understand numbers?
"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
Ben Kenobi: "That means I'm doing something right. "
My opinion is irrelevant. Presenting a 2 percentage points tax increase as 'massive' is ridiculous at best.
Indeed.

My favorite is that it's only for x number of years and then it will be reduce all they way back down to 3.25%. WHO ARE THEY KIDDING.
When they raised it to 3% many years ago, they said it was temporary. Yeah temporary till we raise it again.

I still love how a 5% income tax is seen as the end of the world. In super Republican Georgia, the income tax is 6% for anyone making over $7,000 a year.

The thing people need to pay attention to is overall tax burden. Municipal + State + Federal. Quibbling over a percentage point here or there to a specific tax can result in missing the forest for the trees.
Georgia's State/Local Tax Burden Slightly Above National Average
Estimated at 9.9% of income, Georgia's state/local tax burden percentage ranks 16th highest, slightly above the national average of 9.7%.
Illinois' State/Local Tax Burden Below National Average
Estimated at 9.3% of income, Illinois' state/local tax burden ranks 30th highest nationally, below the national average of 9.7%.

So, at least prior to the IL income tax increase, Georgia was indeed a higher tax environment than IL. IL will probably now rise into the upper-half (previously ranked 30/50). Dunno if it will catch Georgia.

Yeah, considering the municipal part makes it even worse. Despite my property assessment being drastically reduces this year our property taxes increased 33% this year. SO they're getting us in every possible way.
And just like they did the income tax increase in the darkness of night, they held on to our property tax bills till after the election even though they were prepared a month previously. It's the sleazy way they operate that pisses me off. (consistent with previous posts)

In addition, I'm sure Illinois services are far better than Georgia's.

It's hard not to be cynical.
At least you only have dead of night tax increases to deal with. In this province we pass laws that way. It's pretty sad when the first time you hear of a law is when you are being arrested for breaking it.

Yes, that would truly suck.
And just in, Bret Farve's sister after she was arrested in connecting with a bust on a meth lab states that she would be retiring.
