technically false. there are several octaves that are audible to the human ear. granted, those twelve notes do cycle, but saying A110 sounds the same as A220 or A440, they are three distinct pitches.

The 12 note chromatic scale includes the sharps and flats.

The 12 note spacing between the doubling of frequency that constitutes an octave is standard in Western music, but there are other systems with different intervals. I think there was an Arabic scale that used quarter-tones instead of semi-tones, for example.
