  • Bush doesn't care about Kanye West ("All time low" of his presidency)

Bush expressed his frustration with the "Runaway" singer in an interview with the "Today Show"'s Matt Lauer to air Monday on NBC's "Matt Lauer Reports."

When Lauer asked Bush if he remembered the comments Kanye made about him, President Obama's predecessor offered a matter-of-fact response.

"Yes, I do. He called me a racist," Bush told Lauer.

Lauer clarified that Kanye did not literally call Bush a racist but instead said, "George Bush doesn't care about Black people." But Bush maintained his stance.

"That's - 'he's a racist,'" Bush said. "And I didn't appreciate it then. I don't appreciate it now. It's one thing to say, 'I don't appreciate the way he's handled his business.' It's another thing to say, 'This man's a racist.' I resent it, it's not true, and it was one of the most disgusting moments in my Presidency."

Lauer quoted an excerpt from the book on the matter:

"I faced a lot of criticism as President. I didn't like hearing people claim that I lied about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction or cut taxes to benefit the rich. But the suggestion that I was racist because of the response to Katrina represented an all time low."

Bush said he still feels the same way and added that Kanye's comments upset him because it was not reflective of his work.

"My record was strong I felt when it came to race relations and giving people a chance. And--it was a disgusting moment," Bush said.

What a coincidence; I don't care about Kanye West either.

Presidents or (ex-presidents) should really have thicker skins.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

He kept his mouth shut during his presidency thus showing the ability to have thick skin or at least the appearance thereof. Now that he is a citizen telling Kanye West to get stuffed makes him just like the majority of the citizenry.

Well, what does Kanye West have to say... you know he would say something!

MTV brings viewers the best in lifestyle and competition reality shows, plus live events featuring the biggest names in entertainment.

Yeezy said he sympathizes with Bush because he knows what it's like to be publicly branded as a bigot due to the aftermath of busting up Taylor Swift's 2009 MTV Video Music Awards acceptance speech.

"I definitely can understand the way he feels to be accused of being a racist in any way because the same thing happened to me. I got accused of being a racist. With both situations, it was basically a lack of compassion that America saw," West said in an interview with Houston's 97.9 The Box Wednesday (November 3).

"With him, it was a lack of compassion with him not rushing, him not taking the time to rush down to New Orleans. With me, it was a lack of compassion of cutting someone off in their moment. But nonetheless, I think we're all quick to pull a race card in America, and now I'm more open, [due to] the poetic justice that I feel to have went through the same thing that he went. And I really more connect with him just on a humanitarian level because that next morning, the next morning when he felt that, I felt that same thing too [with the Taylor Swift incident]."
Wow. Of course Kanye West cycles it back to his own thing but still... is he actually admitting he ****ed up? wow.

I disagree. Why should they not feel irked by a jackass?

Yea, I think it is a bit of refreshing honesty from Citizen Bush. for him.

Also, for Kanye's statement as well.

Wait. That was an all-time low of his presidency? Obliquely being called a racist by a self-involved jackass? Not the thousands of people who died in the terror attacks, or the thousands more Americans he marched off to death in a needless war in Iraq, or the blatant incomptence displayed by his adminstration in the Katrina crisis, or etc. etc. etc.

To be fair, perhaps he was talking about levels rather than single events. In other words, the Kanye incident happened at the nadir of the Katrina affair...

Still, you'd think 9/11 would provide serious competition...

Nothing about 9/11 impugned Bush as an individual. It might, in fact, have been his finest hour.

                        9/11 was Clinton's fault. Duh.

I was thinking more in terms of a low point for the country.

It was an all-time low of the criticism he faced, you buffoon, not of his presidency. I don't know what the reading comprehension section of the MCAT was like but I bet the people who don't do well on it end up fondling boys in Ohio.
