There's so many to choose from, after all...
My giving is pretty modest, as I often wonder just how 'efficient' some of these charities even are - but I still give to those that suit my beliefs...
This week I'll give my modest yearly donation to the Poppy Appeal, just like I do for the Great Daffodil Appeal in March for the Marie Curie cancer society...
After that, the main charity I donate to is the Woodland Trust, which is dedicated to saving existing woodlands in the UK and planting new ones.
I've also been know to support English Heritage in the past and Cadw now that I'm in Wales, these preserve important and historic sites in England and Wales respectively.
Whenever we've got stuff to get rid of that could be used by someone else, we always take it to the local PDSA charity shop - the PDSA is a veterinary charity tending to the pets of people who would otherwise not be able to pay for it.
As for memberships, I'm a member of the Youth Hostel Association (I haven't used one in years but I think of it as an annual 'donation') and the Liberal Democrats. Obviously the Lib Dems aren't a charity, but these days I have a feeling they're going to need all the charity they can get...
Oh, I once did a sponsored beard shave for Age Concern (old people) when I had a goatee - the charity wasn't my choice, but was democratically chosen from a number suggested.
