Some people alive today will have known someone who fought in the American Civil War. Others will have known someone who fought in the Crimean War. Rather an odd thought.

i remember a guy on the newsmax forums, years ago who told me about a school teacher he had when he was a boy who remembered the american civil war. he said it was a big regret of his that he didn't listen more to the guy and his stories."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

A bit shorter term, but somehow alarming to me nevertheless.
In my high school days (1999-2003), youtube, myspace, and facebook didn't exist. You probably would have difficulty fathoming that."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

back in my day we didn't have no fancy pants floppy disks. we used tapes and waited patiently for 10 minutes while our 64bit machines loaded their games!
damn kids today don't know they're born..."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

and don't get me started on my walk to school, it was 10 miles, uphill, in the rain, both ways!"The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

Computer in my day looked like this:
EDIT: NUDITY
When we had to type something up, people used stuff like this:
There's one in my basement somewhere.
Now, you youngings have your computers on your new-fangled iphone gizmos. Little computers you hold in the palm of your hand.
Oh and HC, this is not the real floppy though it's probably what you know and what you were referencing:
Floppies are these... have you ever seen one before?

It is a mind**** though. My generation was basically the first to grow up with much exposure to computers at early childhood but it wasn't until a few years later that computers started to be common in homes and the internet as we know it developed. These kids now like HC have been exposed to computers since birth."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi
