While I hardly think it should be illegal, I can at least see how people feeding stray cats could cause a problem. You take up feeding feral cats and stick to it, pretty soon you're going to have a lot more cats who are significantly less scared of people. That could be seen as a public health hazard (rabies, in particular). And not everybody wants armies of cats hanging around; they can cause mischief and do annoying things like start noisy fights at 3AM. Compared to the sandcastle law, banning cat-feeding sounds downright reasonable.

Cyprus was absolutely teeming with stray cats, no problems there...

Oh, and the moped thing PH mentions: they're the worst drivers I've come across in Europe.

Actually, it's a pretty **** country all round.
The South of Italy is a perculiar place, I will agree, and extremely chaotic (ever driven in Naples? That was fun!) but it is a beautiful place, and the woman are very easy on the eye

I had one of those moped drivers slam into the back of my hirecar whilst stationary. He just came flying round a blind corner and *wham*. Cycled off too, but I got his registration. Arsehole

But I enjoyed working there - the people were really cool and funny and I had a great time.

Stationary? As in you were reversing at 30kph?

Easy pickings. I've foregone a comment in the What If: thread. If it makes you feel better.

Ah don't get me wrong, there's loads about Italy I absolutely love - even a crazily mental place like Naples!

But hey, kudos to you for driving in Naples - I certainly wouldn't do it and I've driven all over the world! I don't think there was a single car there that didn't have some sort of dent or scratch on it - and the number of near misses I witnessed when I was there...

I remember coming back from the ferry to Capri and they had police to stop the traffic when the light turn red (Neapolitan drivers are also colour blind!). The policewoman who tried to stop them almost got run over and ended up with her hands on the bonnet of the stopping vehicle!!!

Did you check out the cafe Gambrinus in the civilised part of town? Proper Italian coffee! None of that rip-off Roman ****!

Italian girls are very beautiful, I do miss this about the place

And MOBIUS, I didn't go to that place...Naples is big enough to not have been to all coffee shops. I did spend many of the weekends I was there in Sorrento/Positano/Amalfi as well, which was nice

I know people from third world countries who were rather horrified by Naples

edit: italians are generally good looking, a good average and very varied phenotypes, from central european to levantine and everything in between
