As a card carrying Lib Dem, clearly I should be pretty cautious about getting in bed with the Tories - but this Coalition seems to be a different beast altogether...

Take the latest focus on benefits:

Higher tax earners are to be stripped child benefit payments

Unemployed families are to have their benefits capped to a maximum of £500/week for everything - including ending the open ended house allowance benefits loophole...

Not to mention a whole raft of Lib Dem policies getting in either at the forefront of policy, or via the back door (e.g. Trident looking increasingly unlikely to be replaced like-for-like).

It's great, so far IMHO, it's like most of the best of the policies of both parties are being chosen, with the worst either being kicked into touch, or being seriously watered down...
Those all sound like common sense reforms.

Though I don't like their idea of scrapping a whole carrier battle group early and delaying the purchase of new aircraft so that the new carrier design will be launched yet not have any planes to go on it. The Royal Navy is becoming an even bigger joke.
