  • How good are your ISP's service ?

I had a problem with my connection this evening (no connection) and called the service number. A nice person answered after two rings, and yeah, he could see that I had a serious problem and he would start trace on my line and techs would come by tomorrow. A couple of hours later, I got connected again and called back - same response time and the message "your line has several bit faults" we continue tracing and you will get a call when the techs have checked.

No waiting time, no annoying jingle repeated, no transfer to another person - just, yup, you have a problem and we have crew looking into it tomorow (it was 20:00 when I called, so acceptable).

How are you treated by your ISP ?
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

It's OK, I guess. Time Warner cable.

Comcast. Considering the infrastructure they need to support, pretty damn good in terms of data rates and downtime. Their techs have been fast and efficient when needed.

One of my clients in the city just switched to CBeyond, and it's been a near-total disaster -- phone issues, email issues, and unexplained dysfunctions on their website. Support is grudging, always pointing fingers at other vendors. I suspect them of incompetence, mixed with a healthy dose of don't-give-a-crap.

he he he ... what socialism does...

actually since I moved to Croatia, the ISP is good, no issues yet more than a year, we had the telephone issue once where they came the day after and fixed it in 24 hours, but overal I am very satisfied... they also seem to be running faster download rates that advertized?!?

But in UK... he he he... I run two at the same time, as I am working from home most of the time, to have certainty that one of them will work. It was NTHell cable (Virgin now), and UKonline ADSL. Both had intermittent outages, calling NTHell was hell, once it changed to Virign, slightly less hell but still felt hopeless on many occasions... UKOnline were great until bought out by Sky, when the service went downhill, and I was happy while it worked, but when it broke ~ Virgin style support = iffy...

Overall it improved greatly from late 1990's when it was pure crap, to iffy, better than line carriers, and many other things in UK, but still poor comparing to what I have now, or your Danish example. I never had an engineer come within 24hours in UK out of 10+ times they had come, least was probably three days, the longest outage and engineer wait - more than a month... but services in UK are usually attrocious and this is not a suprise, but as a positive ISP's have improved greatly over the last decade.

Have had the same provider for two or three years. Never had anything to complain of. The one time the net crash landed, I made a call, came right through, they quickly found the problem and it was fixed half an hour later. Even better: We have 10/10 fibre. Since we also have cable tv and ip-telephone from them(which cost less than the alternative anyways), we get 15/15 for free.
