Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

        This was my version, though:

That I still own and play regularly:

            Naval War

Though it's more of a card game...
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

                Definitely the Civ III boardgame.

Just kidding, I never played it. But Kuci did. Once.

I was shocked to find out that this existed:

Yes, as complicated as the computer game is, the board game must have been insane! The computer game was actually based on this boardgame.

This is just one of several pages worth of counters:

                  The game includes:
2 map sheets in color (Europe & Rest of the World) of 80cm x 60cm each
1412 counters (armies, fleets, leaders, detachments, colonies, trading posts, etc)
1 handbook of rules of 72 pages
1 handbook of scenarios of 52 pages
1 handbook of annexes of 48 pages
                  6 player's aides, record sheets
                  2 ten-sided dice
                  Holy ****.

                    That isn't so much.

Really, the only boardgames I am familiar with are the obvious ones (Chess, checkers, Othello, Risk, Monopoly, Axis&Allies, and all the kiddie ones like candyland and chutes & ladders. Stuff like that). In this age of video games, I can't imagine anyone playing these very complicated and involved boardgames.
