  • What Americans talk about the English do.

This is London magazine has been established for over 65 years, providing readers with information about events, exhibitions, music, concerts, theatre and dining. As life returns to normal, Londoners are heading back into the Capital and many visitors are already coming from further afield.

Police detained two in Gateshead on September 15 and four more yesterday and all six were bailed pending further inquiries.

“The arrests followed the burning of what are believed to have been two Korans in Gateshead on September 11,” Northumbria police said. “The incident was recorded and a video placed on the internet.”

In a video that appears to have been filmed behind a pub, six young men in hooded tops or wearing scarves over their faces can be seen pouring petrol on a book and setting it alight, then burning another.

They cheer as the first book bursts into flames. The video is still accessible on YouTube.

This is Gateshead. They're very unlikely to even be able to read the titles on these books.

On the news it said that some were wearing tea towels to cover their faces. Generations of shepherds in school nativity plays and Yasser Arafat are delighted at the irony.

They were probably burning Sunderland FC matchday programmes.

So then why isn't this causing an anti-british firestorm? The people threatening to do this in the US were also idiots, also non-representative of the country, and didn't even end up doing it.

The answer of course is that anti-Americanism has been a raging fad for a while now.

Frankly Britain deserves more criticism because it's actually illegal there.

You know what they were arrested for, right?

Well if it was for starting a fire or public drunkenness, I hereby recant. But I was under the impression that it was for the book burning.

It doesn't say what they were arrested for. Did you guys get rid of Habeas Corpus along with your right to bear arms?
                        John Brown did nothing wrong.

That article doesn't say. Others do.
