Since I don't care about gay Britons, what would you say are the main flaws of Civ5, Krill? I never bought it because it sounded terrible (hence my current sig), and I'm curious.

Sullla explains it better than I could, but my main complaints are that the AI is retarded, that there is a lack of player control of culture, the tile yields and growth of cities are completely retarded when combined with city states (really, broken is the only explanation but maybe the new patch solves 2 of these 3 issues), that most buildings are not economically justifiable therefore a building approach to the game is impossible (especially when considering ICS, horizontal growth is better than vertical every time), and finally that 1upt produces so much micro, and leaves the game with such a weak AI, that there is no gameplay reason for it's inclusion (http://www.designer-notes.com/?p=287)

The game has (had?) promise, but it would need a complete rebalancing of the tech tree (like, taking into account everything else you change), buildings (make them worthwhile), growth patterns (remove exponential growth, because the profit from eachnew pop is not exponential but the cost of that pop is, which is one of the reasons ICS is important), city state mechanics (no idea other than to make each on give your empire a boost instead of each city within it), tile improvements (make them worth using, worth growing onto, this plus high growth costs makes growing up irreleveant) and great person mechanics (tone down the GS, tone up the GA, make them all cheaper). Then it would be OK for a 1.00 build IMO.

A thread about gays turns to talk of Civ 5... this thread is like the antithesis of this website, which was a Civ site that turned gay. I will start a new thread so as to not disturb the Civ 5 talk anymore. Please direct your gay/brit posts to the new thread.

It's the exception that has finally proven the rule. We are now about to enter a golden age of Apolyton, I promise you!
