Hands. Everyone look at your hands. The song was made by a Canadian though so of course it is lacking.
That said I just looked up maypoles in wiki and it is unknown when it came to Britain and Ireland, it could have been in Anglo-Saxon times, but it was likely during the danelaw and during periods of Norweigen rule of the UK and Ireland but the worthless Danes have now forgotten their own pagan traditions.
