The outcry against the mosque in New York is evidence enough of what people think of what is going on. How can a guy like you, a lowly academic who has no use to society, even begin to speak for anyone else? How pathetic. I dealt with academics quite a bit over the years. They all had one thing in common, weakness. Your weakness is a plague to this country, and at some point in order to rid itself of disease, the country will need to put people like you where you belong. I look forward to the day when we have an army of academics manning toll booths across the country.

I expect something like that from an academic. It's something I'd see on some silly kids show. Most academics seem to live in a fantasy removed from reality. The only way to understand reality is to understand the pain of reality, something you more than likely have not experienced in your insular world. Therefore, you are weak.

Anyone can go get a job in academia, it's really easy. Just sit there and get your masters and then your phd. There's always a demand for professors and they make good money for a relatively easy job.

a) Most professors make **** money. Even full professors at major research institutions only make ~150k (unless they are law/medicine/econ/finance profs or superstar researchers with a Nobel prize), and people don't become full professors until they're in their 40s

b) If you think that becoming a tenured professor is easy, you are an idiot. Research professorships (glorified postdocs) are not that hard to get (well, still far harder than getting a normal job), nor are visiting/adjunct faculty positions. Both types pay ~50-60k

c) GePap is not an academic AFAIK
