The single mother has since been forced to dodge bananas in shops and turn a blind eye to them in the fruit bowl at friend's houses.

Fran even struggles to read a book to her son Harrison, two, because she worries that a banana could pop up at any point in the story.

Worst of all is the fact that Harrison loves bananas.
Fran said: 'Harrison really likes them, which has put me in a tricky situation.
'I have to use a blanket to pick them up and put them in the trolley and then when I am at home I have to wear rubber gloves and use a tea towel to open one and give it to him.
'I am quite proud of the fact that I can give them to Harrison. Two and a half years go no way I would have even touched one with gloves on.
'I might be able to just about feed them to my son, but I can safely say that I am never ever going to eat one.'
