I watched Despicable Me. I thought it was serviceable. The wife loved it.

You can't claim no interesting dramas when you refuse to see "Inception" simply because you dislike perhaps the greatest actor of our generation. And the "wondering what you just watched" is overstated. If you can follow a murder mystery, you can follow Inception.Originally posted by Elok View PostActually, I think this whole summer has been a long mill of disappointment. Iron Man 2 was a serviceable, silly blockbuster, and then...Toy Story 3 and Despicable Me, cute kids' movies...erm, Inception was supposed to be good, I just didn't see it because I dislike Dicaprio and don't care for movies where you leave the theater wondering what you just watched...what else was there? The wife and I said Screw It and got Netflix after a long perusal of our abysmal prospects back in early June. No interesting dramas, no appealing comedies, even a shortage of retarded action flicks to giggle at. We've dug so far into nostalgia that they remade the bloody A Team.
I also recently saw "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" which is an awesome film for people who enjoy late 80s, early 90s video and arcade games.
Toy Story 3 was really good. Despicable Me was really good as well. Kick-Ass was another really fun movie.
Plenty of gold in this year's summer movie lineup.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

The fact you didn't want inception makes any opinion you have invalid.Originally posted by Elok View PostActually, I think this whole summer has been a long mill of disappointment. Oh, I also didn't watch it because the previews looked immensely uninteresting, even setting aside the LDC factor. I trust my gut on those things. To be fair, I don't loathe LDC the way I do Orlando Bloom, he just strikes me as boring. And I know it's one of those "what did I just watch" movies, because the threads about it contained plentiful argument about the ending.Originally posted by Imran Siddiqui View PostYou can't claim no interesting dramas when you refuse to see "Inception" simply because you dislike perhaps the greatest actor of our generation. Really? The reviews said it was a mean-spirited, nihilistic ****fest. EDIT: Rottentomatoes says it's got 81%, so I suppose the WaPo reviews I read should be taken with a big grain of salt.I also recently saw "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" which is an awesome film for people who enjoy late 80s, early 90s video and arcade games.
I mentioned the two kids' movies, and Inception though I don't think it's my style. I'd forgotten Kick-Ass; it didn't even show in local theaters, and it's been on our Netflix queue for a while now.Toy Story 3 was really good. Despicable Me was really good as well. Kick-Ass was another really fun movie.

Eyuuuuh. I liked Inception a lot, but fluffing DiCaprio like this seems like a bit much for me. He sucks just as often as he pulls off good performances, and the good ones seem to almost always be him playing virtually the same person. I think his range is extremely limited--one could almost swap out his characters from The Departed, Blood Diamond, Shutter Island (which sucked), and Inception with little change to the films...Originally posted by Imran Siddiqui View PostYou can't claim no interesting dramas when you refuse to see "Inception" simply because you dislike perhaps the greatest actor of our generation.Last edited by Boris Godunov; August 24, 2010, 03:18.Tutto nel mondo è burla
