    Being that this film takes place in the Soviet Union, it’s more likely that he was simply locked away as a “subversive” until the Iron Curtain fell.

        But it's haunting, isn't it?

        I'll confess that I voted "no". But I don't think you really want to say that, and it's a movie anyway. So actually you can't vote yes or no and be serious, IMO; I voted that way just to see if that would provoke yes / no answers, and now I feel a certain guilt over even having done that. I think this one is a masterpiece of cinema.
