Not so sure it was support either. Just a dose of reality that he needs to understand he will ultimately be the acting party that makes himself better in time. There are no magic fixes.

“In a democracy, I realize you don’t need to talk to the top leader to know how the country feels. When I go to a dictatorship, I only have to talk to one person and that’s the dictator, because he speaks for all the people.” - Jimmy Carter

I took him off Ignore not knowing what he had posted. He could have just posted some insults and I would have taken him off Ignore to just read his insults.

Dude, I already have a MA in U.S. History and I have some experience teaching as a lowly adjunct.

Have you ever thought about writing something?

Also, what a PhD in History rather than another MA? Just asking.

In my life I find that variety is spice of life and when I am in the duldroms I instigate a change to encourage me along, nothing so drastic as suicide of course. You've just gone through some serious negative changes, and it's understandable to feel down. What you need now are some positive changes. They don't need to be huge, or even associated with trying to solve any of your problems. Just something... a haircut (I always feel better after one), a change in your routine, a new hobby, etc... just try it.

Nah, I don't want to go on to get a PhD in History; it's not worth it.

I did have a productive past few days, though. More job searching for Illinois state jobs and found several. I also went out to Champaign, Illinois to the university and got some things done there in case it works out, that I can afford to go to school.
