      What do you mean "finally"?
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Well, I'm pretty sure these examples are made up and he didn't really say them in real life.

Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

            1st example:

Me:‘I wonder why women evolved to be *so* upset about being raped?’

Guy: ‘I can’t believe you just said that – rape is HORRIBLE!!!’

            2nd example:

            Me:'Why do people tell jokes?'

            Guy:'Cause they're funny! DUH!'
            Yes.

Reactions from other people in this thread are proving your point. People are stupid.

You know, considering how usual this logical fallacy is, I'm surprised that I couldn't find a name for it after a quick wikipedia look-up.

Wondering how and when X became widely reprehensible does not equal advocating X.

Saying that you understand why person A did thing Y does not equal saying that you think person A did the right thing when he did Y.

Person B carrying over a message to person C and telling C that event Z has happened does not equal B advocating event Z.

All similar fallacies, all often encountered and perfectly human. But you would presume that adults had grown out of them already.

Yes. If you mean by this kind of thread.

I can't understand why you are frustrated by it.

When you said "*so*", you implied they get more upset than they should, thus the answer.

Which is a perfectly reasonable answer to your question. Which was not 'why do we enjoy funny things?'.

Is this thread a joke? In that case, it's not funny.
