Watching a bit of World Cup here and there, it occurred to me that
actual armed conflict between "teams" would be far more interesting
It should be done on an island. Teams would consist of volunteers, of
course.
Rules of engagement:
- swords
- muskets
- all other weaponry up to, say, year 1800
The reason for simplistic weapons is to make charges and hand to hand
combat possible and reduce the attractiveness of digging in and waiting.
The reason for keeping gunpowder -> gunpowder is cool.
There'd be a capture the flag type of objective. Modern medical assistance
would be provided to the wounded, but the risk of injury and death would
be very real.
Spectators only via cameras. No vuvuzelas.
What do you think?
