    Why not pass legislation that would protect unemployed people from employment discrimination?

        At least the companies relaxed the restriction when it became public knowledge. So you have to think they thought it would appear shady.

            If you think this is a seriously widespread issue worthy of all of the government's time to make such a restriction that would be ridiculously hard to prove in reality, then God help you, MrFun.

                      But there are other areas where government compulsion seems justified - such as against race and gender discrimination in employment.
