  • Tell Serb that. He thinks soccer players look like Haile Gebrelassie.

I referenced the fact that soccer uses energy systems in the same way as hockey but that wasn't good enough either. Russians

Superstars aren't born at World Cups you ****. This is starry-eyed nonsense. There's hardly a top twenty player in the world today, if any, who have done this. It's a shop window for talent, but the very best players don't need it. Any manager who signs a player on the basis of a World Cup doesn't have much of a scouting network.

Once upon a time the WC was special for being a rare opportunity to see televised football of any sort, so people around the world would see Zico, Cruyff and G. Muller for the first time at World Cups. The top players in this tournament will have become known to the world audience through the Champions League.

As for players wanting to winning the WC rather than the Champions League - the WC only happens every four years, so a player will only have two or maybe three chances in their lifetime, compared to a dozen or more Champions League. It also gives them a chance to be cast as national heroes, rather than just heroes for one club.

Also this tournament have been good so far. already been some big upsets and all the teams that are looking to go thru are showing alot of battle spirits. and guess what, that seems to be what england is missing.
There have been some good moments, some decent games and some entertaining upsets. The USA being ****ed over by the ref was particularly amusing. I don't know where you watch your football every week, kitman, but compared to what I'm used to the overall quality of football has not been high.

people who cant appreciate a tie are retarded. the usa-slovenian tie is a good example of a entertaining tie. and of course there is going to be some dull matches, hockey got just as many, there got to be downs to be ups.
          Agreed.

He actually has a stunning girlfriend apparently. Which shows what money can do for you. To be fair to him, when asked what he would be if not a footballer he replied "a virgin".

the world cup is still alot bigger then CL. Zidane would not be as big as he is if he wouldnt have been the driving force behind the french wc and ec golds.

seriously go **** yourself. the premier league is not as good as you think. you have about 6 good teams and the rest is nothing special. of the 25 games so far i would say 15 of them have the same or higher quality of players then your regular arsenal game.

Yeah I know. You'd (not) be surprised by the amount of Rooney/Shrek comparisons you can google up.

Actually I was setting up a two-part joke, but the conversation died so it didn't materialize.

Crouch...a mutant who has an excellent scoring record for England. But, do we use him? Nope.

It's not luck, it's tactics and wanting it more.

Club football is completely different. How often does Barca lose for instance? Chelsea? Inter?

                        • Kitman, answer the ****ing question, you ****, once you've pulled your rancid bell-end out of your arse. In which stadium do you watch your football? Which club do you support?

Anyway, it's not just about individual players, it's about a team - and lack of team cohesion is part of what's missing in international football. You speak of superstars and quality of players but it is also the way the team plays that defines the entertainment.

I've said nothing about the overall quality of the Premier League, I was referring to the entertainment value of my team, but still the PL compares favourably with any league in Europe in terms of depth. There are only two top teams in Spain - they take all the money between them, and only in handful in Italy, France and Germany. Of the lower tier sides, Fulham did ok in the second-rank European competition.

Your bull**** about 15 of the 25 games so far being better than I'd see at Arsenal is hilarious. Of the approx 25 home games (league + cups) last season, I effortlessly plucked out the Nasri and Fabregas solo goals as examples of quality. I could find you ten more. All better than any of the goals seen in this WC.

go back and check, that was never a question from you. it is also completly irrelevent. i follow the premier league and la liga on tv just about every weekend during seasons.

yes i somewhat agree. but i dont think this is such a big problem as you try to make it. most of the teams that manage to qualify for the WC have there **** together.

i have a far better time seeing players that use there heart more then there feet. your entertainment is not mine. for alot of players its a honour to play for there national side, and because its a rare occasion the players give everything.

if this was true you would have alot more winners in the uefa cup/EL. i love the premier league cus there is alot of heart and its fast paced, but dont give me any **** about the quality of your lesser teams.

i said same or better. and you didnt exactly pick random highlights like you try to make it out.

Are you serious? Maybe I'm spoiled by hockey where you legitimately need upper body strength, but I've seen nothing in soccer that would require any big upper body strength. Closest things is when they hold their arms out to "win the ball"...but that's nothing.

Those Italian soccer player clearly have some upper body strength. Sprinters don't use their upper body for anything but are strong there. I'm sure soccer players still do pullups, presses, cleans, etc. as part of their off-season strength training regardless of the direct applications.
