          This is no longer the approved method.

          But thank you for the historical context of CPR. I learned a lot.

                          30 Compressions, 2* M2M, 100 Compressions per minute, that sounds familiar. Although I wouldnt use the "between the nipples", what about hanging breasts...

                            The new method is to do away with the rescue breaths altogether. They found that a majority of the air you blew in just distented the stomach and didn't do any good. Now, you just call for help and start pumping. Don't stop until rescue gets there, they show signs of life or someone else can take over. It's call Call and Pump. We have been doing it in Walworth County for about 4-5 years now. Much higher success rate.

                              Indeed, the thinking is that there's enough residual oxygen still in the victim's blood that it will sustain them for at least a little while until EMTs can take over. Just needs to be pumped around until they do.
