Oerdin makes a good point. Some money costs too much to make, and not just for the individual making it.

The benefit to society is not necessarily proportional to the pay. For example I think a public school teacher can potentially do a lot of good for society but they won't get paid a lot for it.

And how do we know that things that benefit society are always things that can and/or should be sold.

Although I make decent money I choose to work fewer hours (I haven't worked more than 35-40 hours in years). The extra time/money stress isn't worth it to me.

Of course I sold out dreams for dollars years ago and am not doing what I particularly enjoy. I don't know what kind of KH ***** that makes me.

Public school teachers don't get paid very much because they're engaged in a low value activity

My cousin makes $82,000 teaching in California because he gives bad blowjobs, what kind of value is he adding to the world over a normal teacher?

I was just reading that this has a huge cost http://infoproc.blogspot.com/2008/12...ctiveness.html . Additionally in my own experience it has a huge cost.

My school had a very small portion of the TAG kids become successful. Other schools (like the one in NVA) has a very large portion.

Well technically an economy based on consumption requires a working class that is doing well, i.e. somehow those people making money and spending it on real estate/luxury items have to subsidize the poor to make the cake bigger as a whole.

Value is subjective, but IMO educating the next generation is very valuable. I think their pay is low because taxpayers are stingy. The low pay is only an indicator of what taxpayers think, which only shows that they are low value if you think an appeal to the masses is a valid argument.

That's a retarded statement. If education was so valuable then parents would bid up salaries for private school teachers and force up pay in the public sector. If anything, taxpayers are overpaying. Taxpayer preference provides a floor, not a ceiling.

Parents don't get the benefit of education. This is why the government should be involved, just like for environment/etc.
