In Death Valley, we were 120f in the day and 80f at night, we shivered in our sleepingbags at night in 80f.

Sure, that's up there. But the amazing part was freezing our asses off in 26.66 at night in medium-cold bags. Such a drastic swing of temp, over a few hours, had our bodies all fkd up. We did this for weeks without static shelter.

Trust me, we have hot summers too (a couple +45C days at July is nothing special). And Siberia is the world champ in yearly temp swings. Not daily of course, but still when you have +40C at summer and -40C at winter it's a hell of enviroment. At least this is the part of Siberia where I live. So, I guess I can imagine what your summers looks like. That's actually what I meant when I was talking about the harsh enviroment you have there.

Serb, nobody lives in Death Valley. I was there for the army's desert warfare training center. Daily temp swings like that are what make deserts almost entirely uninhabitable for humans. Comparing where one lives to the heart of the Mojave is kinda asking for a response of "haha, you suck".
