I fully expect a surge of new posters after Civ5 is released. We always get new posters when ever a new version of civ is released. Will it be enough to make poly bigger then CFC again? I doubt it but even right now at the low point between two releases poly still gets 15,000 unique visitors per month (compared to CFC's 30,000) so it isn't exactly a small forum though most of the on topic posters seem to not post in the off topic or vise versa.

Yes it is. I believe the summer in Texas is even warmer and worse than the summer in Siberia. When people survive in a harsh enviroment they become different in comparison with big city boys. Such group of people care about stock market less, then about "living on their land". 1) People don't die every day in a plane crush.
2) Presidents don't die every day. If you are not familiar with the concept of democracy - the majority of his people voted for him to represent thier vision of how their country should be governed. So, his death has a way more dramatic impact on society, then an everyday death of some unfortunate person.
