I'm writing an essay on internet banking fraud (phishing, scams etc) and how to respond to it both legally, and in the practical sense. Not being a programmer I obviously have no idea about the practical side of things, so I ask for your views on:
(a) practical measures to prevent fraud;
(b) when do you think customers should be liable for failing to take action to prevent fraud? Do you think customers should be liable for falling for a scam? In what circumstances?
(c) some banks now give customers security tokens. These tokens generate random passwords which must be entered on login in addition to password and username. Is this an effective method of fraud prevention? Are there better ways for banks (or customers) to prevent fraud?
(d) how effective is anti-virus software in preventing fraud?
I'd appreciate all opinions. Links to any sources would also be helpful. Many thanks in advance.
