    • Apparently McGill and U of T are the only AAU member institutions in your whole country. No wonder Asher thinks stupid community college antics are par for the course in higher education.

While I agree with the second part, this was the 2nd stop of three. She was in the city I'm in speaking at Western Monday (relatively uneventful), Ottawa last night and Calgary sometime soon. Unless she did a prior tour that isn't really plenty.

        • I presumed she's spoken there plenty, I should not have attributed plenty to this tour. My "she's spoken in Canada plenty" and "how ironic is the title of the tour" got mashed together. My mistake.

          • Meh. Just quibbling.

I wonder how the Calgary speech will fare?

It is a more conservative part of the country but it will still be before students. :sigh: (sorry Ozzy)

And I promise, the guy who pulled it didn't do it to threaten you.
Zero were interrupted. Although, while living on campus as an undergrad, there were at least two late night pranks like this in our dorm. With one, I was sleeping on a top bunker that was so close to cieling that I hit my head as I bolted awake when the alarm blared.

She's so outrageous, I'd read the book if someone had it around. Some part of me just loves making an inappropriate joke at an inappropriate time. Someone's got to be the person to say stuff like "hey, that baby is ugly", someone's got to say what people expect just to piss us off. Coulter is not stupid, nor does she incite hate; she's just not PC and quite revels in flaunting that. I like to flaunt un-PC stuff for fun and profit too sometimes, but I don't get to do it on CNN. Don't be such a hater, she makes some decent points.

                          • Ok fine, maybe a few people do go nuts now and then and sure some even get TV shows despite obvious spirals of delusion... but it's worth the freedom. If .0001% can't hang, tough crap.

The only real difference between US and Canadian free speech is Fred Phelps wouldn't have his voice heard.

                              • And in Germany the Nazis can't talk, and in the UK Michael Savage cannot. Let's not pretend this is about 1 person; this is about freedom and its abridgement. What's next, hate speech crimes committed against the government? Let's put Chavez and Putin in charge? Maybe we need some national ideological police too. Wouldn't it be great if some of those "journalists" who we are politically opposed to were jailed or, mmm, disappeared?
