  • Interesting musings on IQ and the Wealth of Nations

    This article

    http://lagriffedulion.f2s.com/sft2.htm

For Slovenia his predictions are pretty spot on:

    Country
    Slovenia

    Average
    verbal
    IQ
    95

    Smart
    fraction*
    as a
    percentage
    of the
    population
    24.03

    Actual
    Real GDP
    per cap
    (1998)
    14,293

    Theoretical
    Real GDP
    per cap
    (1998)
    14,409

By then we pretty much recovered from the brunt of the damage made by planned economics (and mind you Communism in Yugoslavia left more room for the free market than Communism in the rest of Eastern Europe). We also have no natural resources of note and our tourism industry isn't remarkable for central Europe.

Looking at the graph such a view gives some reasonable predictions even assuming its nowhere close to being the whole story.

Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

What? Slovenians are dumb? Judging by your posts, I'd say that's been adequately proved.
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Interesting article. I like how he has isolated verbal IQ as a more predictive metric.

Yes most of his articles (the ones I've read so far) are quite iluminating. Its much easier to comprehend as an explanation for why East Asian capitalist economies don't do that much better than Western European capitalist economies than some vague notions of "conformity" or "creativity".

Eastern & Souther Europeans do have an IQ in the high 90's but we also haven't so far exausted the flynn effect something might I add the British have.

The average IQ of Scandianvian countires is sort of stable and the British one is in decline. Unless Slovenia accepts many more NAM immigrants I don't quite see how your average national IQ will continue to beat ours past 2030 or so. Also don't you know that its the high English IQ that keeps britain aroung 100.

Your smarty-pants insults just aren't cutting it, Kuci. You need to start calling people ***** or mouthbreathers or Slowws if you really want to destroy their sense of self-worth.

Drake is quite correct. But please remember I've spent a long time trolling on apolyton so I may be basically immune to even such harsh insults.

Anyhow the musings are not my own. Considering my OP comments are minimal, does it really matter who starts the thread? I know this may be a bit too un-PC but I would never the less like to hear your comment on his article. It makes very much sense, even as rough as it is.
