By Wales. England was defeated by Wales in the American War of Independence.

As I have already conclusively proved beyond the shadow of any reasonable doubt in a previous thread, the major instigators of the revolution, the first presidents, and indeed the constitution of the US were overwhelmingly Welsh, or based on Welsh ideas.

In other words, the US is independent only through the combined actions of a fortuitous blend of a Welsh/French alliance.

    • That explains why they speak such bad English.

Yeah, by deliberately(?) misspelling words, pronouncing some like the French (herb) and even preferring nonsensical words over proper ones (cilantro, aluminum etc). Yep, you really invented your own language there, didn’t you…?

                • MOBIUS! That's not helping!

cilantro was from the spanish and Aluminum was the original word in England too.

                  • Yes, it is. Coriander is derived from the Latin word, which is in turn derived from the ancient Greek word. That trumps any arriviste Spanish claptrap stone cold!

As for Aluminum, we pretty quickly realised it rhymed with 'dumb' and changed it. The Yanks OTOH...

But you do agree that pronouncing herb ‘erb is particularly annoying?

You do realize that carping from residents of an irrelevant has-been backwater doesn't faze us in the least, right? The American language is clearly a perfected version of the lesser English language, just as the American republic is a perfected version of the lesser English form of liberal governance.

Why should anyone bother to buy health insurance if they can sign up for it if/when they get sick? It's a bit like getting in a car accident and then demanding to be approved for auto insurance.

So if you are much smarter than someone, they will probably think you are much dumber than them.

Interesting...so they both end up "knowing" they are much smarter than the other?
