I don't think you should interfere, Dashi. If Texans want to bite the hand that feeds, and it means they get into massive financial problems or die unnecessarily early - let them.

Most of the sh*t that comes out of that country as a whole, I just laugh at as I don't have to live there. Been there, done that.
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

It's not just Texas. And I've already admitted that they are not stupid. The issue is a very American one in that many people don't like government telling them how to live or what's right. Even if they are right, it just rubs them to wrong way.

The other problem is that there is a party that is capitalizing solely to win votes but doesn't give a damn about what's best for the voters. So what is worse: the voters who vote against their own interests because they are kneejerk reactionaries, or the political party that exploits this?

Wario, I'm a successful Japanese porn director. I'm quite certain that you're familiar with my work.

First, not wanting the government to run every facet of our lives is not a problem.
The very nature of our government is one of state's rights. The scope of that attitude has only come into serious dispute one time.
If you and MOBIUS don't understand it, it really doesn't matter.

              Really? You're ok with it?

And state's rights lost. The nature of our government hasn't been states rights since the Constitution.

You don't seem to understand it. Or aren't able to explain what you are thinking. Or both.

I understand perfectly. You don't. State's rights don't exist today? Really.
Tell me then how Texas has executions, but other states don't. Tell me why drug laws, liquor laws, driver's license laws and on and on vary from state to state.
California can't keep their books balanced, while Texas does fine. Texas isn't compelled to send money to California. Why not?

So basically what we have here is a socialist loser who is teaching English in Japan telling us that we don't know what's best for us and that in fact we are voting for a party that is working against our interest. Yeah, that's pretty typical of a socialist. Why don't you just accept the fact that you are inferior and move on with your life instead of trying to drag the rest of society down to your level? The difference between Republicans and Democrats is that Republicans (I am assuming traditional Republican doctrine here of smaller government and less regulation, not Bush doctrine) try to remove government from people's lives and promote an environment that has no ceiling on possibilities. Democrats, on the other hand, attempt to universally lower the ceiling for the entire population down to the level of the lowest form of humanity; i.e. the socialists themselves. It is therefore important that society unite as quickly as possible to eliminate the socialist disease from the population lest it infect everyone and bring about another stagnant and insignificant Europe.

State's rights do exist, but they haven't been the ultimate authority in the US since the Constitution was signed.

And Texas does send money to California indirectly through federal taxes.

Like I'd ever degrade myself to teaching English in Japan. Dude, you're more obsessed over me than I was pretending that Slowwhand was.

Still making the same mistake. You're wrong.

And Texas does send money to California indirectly through federal taxes.
In this context, you're correct, for now.
