Given the box office numbers, I don't think Avatar is being boycotted by conservatives, so I would say that personal ideology just doesn't come into movie enjoyment for most people.

300 was just a boring and bad movie, that's what annoyed me about it.

In that case, I think I'll make a zombie movie where the vegans and pacifists get eaten first, while a plucky band of survivors remarks on the value of a well-equipped militia every twenty seconds

Maybe I get annoyed where you don't because I'm more centrist than you or Asher? I mean, when/if you saw "300," did you feel twinges of irritation all 300 times they invoked blind, stupid jingoism and xenophobia?
Why the hell would you think you're more centrist than I am?

Where do you think I lie politically anyway?

I figured you were about halfway between Oerdin and myself, as you don't agree with him on many issues but could stomach WALL-E. So I had you roughly pegged as liberal (by U.S. standards), but not a member of MoveOn.org or anything. Can't say for sure, since I generally stay out of political threads...which I suppose is one reason why movies like this piss me off. We go to the movies to ESCAPE reality, and one of the aspects of reality I most like to avoid is vocally angry retards with simplistic political opinions. Such as "no smurf blood for oil!"

I've seen both of the Mad Max movies (there were only two, right?) and I don't remember any significant right-wing opinion-spewing. Unless you consider massive amounts of homoeroticism right-wing.

Politics are part of every movie, every show. Whether you realize it or not is your problem.

People who make art -- whether it is pop art or not -- will always express their opinions. Getting upset or distracted by it is, frankly, a sign of cultural immaturity.

FWIW, I am a centrist. I'm considered a "liberal" by Americans and a "conservative" by Canadians, so a centrist is what I am. You are clearly to the right, to a degree that it upsets you when you have a movie that has a message in it that may be critical of American war tactics and environmental destruction.

                    That's how right-wing is defined.

I don't recall all that much homoeroticism in the first MM, at least.

Is WALL-E really a "leftist" movie? I didn't see it as such...

                          Reasonable people don't.

Paranoid right-wingers like Elok are terrified of it, though. It ruins the experience for them.

                            Wake up.

Grown-ups loved Wall-E, kids were bored to tears by it. It's the first Pixar movie kids didn't really like.

                            Where were you last year?

Not watching juvenile cartoons, that's where.

How can a stupid little robot that doesn't talk make a political statement anyway?

Contemplative silence is clearly a trademark of the left.

Loud, obnoxious noise pollution is the trademark of the right (f.e., Fox News)
