My last nephew came out a little late, with, uh, complications. Specifically, the placenta suddenly tore loose from the uterine wall, causing hemorrhaging. Luckily my SIL was at the hospital (she'd felt generally poor that day), or she would have almost certainly bled to death waiting for an ambulance. She's now fine, preparing to go in for a C-section at the end of the month for baby number two so they don't have a recurrence.
Modern medical technology
Sadly, modern medicine can do nothing to prevent people like my brother from naming their daughters "Reagan Mackenzie."

My wife's water burst story was a touch funny.
We were watching Monday Night Football and a storm was brewing and the pressure change (as it was explained later to us) burst her bag. Since there were no contractions My wife felt no need to rush to the hospital, so she said we'd wait till half time (one of the many reasons we're still married after 24 years)
At half time I drove her to the hospital only to discover that the pressure change had burst a lot of women's bags and since we had taken our time getting there, all the rooms were already taken so my wife was stuck on a couch (which I hope they eventually disposed of) in the waiting room. She never held it against me.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
