  • Scientology has every right to be considered a legitimate religion

Most people on this forum, including the religiously afflicted, scoff and make fun of Scientology as if it is not a real religion. I don't understand why this is, because I honestly don't find it any less plausible than one of the so-called major religions, such as Christianity, or Islam.

After all, no one has conclusively proved that Dianetics less believable than, say the Bible?

    Discuss.
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

This is bad - I agree with MOBIUS
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

With all the problems surrounding the religions we already permit, why should we let another grow up in our midst?

Besides, ****ing Americans, making a business out of everything. I'd feel the same way about American evangelical Christians exporting their heretic cults.

I don't have a problem with making fun of Scientology. I do have a problem with people trying to ban or restrict them from practicing their faith/philosophy/whatever.

Scientology is a cult, not a religion. The difference between a religion and a cult is the difference between a housecat and a tiger. The cat has everything the tiger has--claws, teeth, killer instinct, reflexes--yet somehow cats don't kill people, because of the enormous *quantitative* differences.

            Also, Moby touches himself excessively.

As far as I'm concerned, fine. If Wiccanism and even atheism can be considered religions, why not?
Is this the best you could do to instigate an argument? Kind of petering out, aren't you?

Wiccans should be pointed at and ridiculed. Scientologists should be processed into biodiesel.

The only people who consider atheism a religion are religionistas.

                      WTF!?

You're on drugs Elok. You mention quantitative differences without quantifying them, apart from the fact that "cats don't kill people"...

Maybe you need to start touching yourself.

I'm sad to say, but you are unequivocally wrong.

Religions are just socially acceptable cults.

Scientology is no different or less preposterous as Christianity. The fact that you've been brainwashed impairs your judgement on this issue.

So you are willing to agree with me that Scientology is a legitimate religion?

Obviously atheism is not a religion - talk about the ultimate oxymoron!

Is this the best you could do to instigate an argument? Kind of petering out, aren't you?
You are indeed a funny one. I mean, way to take the sting out of my argument by supporting my basic premise that the concept of religion is absurd!

Petering out? I'm only just getting warmed up, though I do admit that your diversionary self-sacrifice sort of threw me a bit.
