Let's make earthquakes in Idaho

Earthquakes happen around fault-lines because that's the weakest point when energy needs to be release. The problem is, California has a major fault-line, which is bad because a lot of people and industries are there, which means that they are the life source of America. What if we can save California by creating another weak spot that earthquakes happen there instead of California. What if we propagate a crack in Idaho where nobody lives, so that Californians can live in peace.
